My dad had Parkinson’s disease when he got older and it looks as though it runs in the family.
- I’m 76 and was just diagnosed with what I was pretty sure was Parkinson’s.
So at least it wasn’t some sort of shock to the system. And I decided that, unlike my dad, I was going to do whatever it took to have as much quality of life as possible. Medical marijuana was a no brainer for me. I had voted to legalize medical cannabis back when it finally got passed. And I’ve been an advocate for medical marijuana before and since. So figuring out how to get a medical marijuana card was pretty simple. It took less than a week from getting the diagnosis to get access to a cannabis dispensary. My dad was the sort of person who didn’t take meds unless it was for curing something. I never fully understood that approach really. But I sure wasn’t going to follow in his footsteps there. Actually, my dad died because he fell and broke his neck because he wouldn’t take meds. I had used recreational marijuana when I was younger. It wasn’t a regular thing but every time I had an opportunity to use recreational marijuana, I remember those occasions fondly. So when I got the cannabis flower products home from the legal weed store, I knew how to use them. I find that the medical cannabis helps with muscle stiffness, range of motion and just a general uplift for my condition. I’m just so thankful that I can add medical cannabis to my quiver of tools to make life as good as I can make it.
